You've Come to the Right Place

As a new student on campus, we know that it can be difficult to walk into a new place and feel welcomed. We want you to be embraced at the Newman Center and to make it not only a place for the exploration of your faith, but also somewhere you can feel comfortable just hanging out. We’re here to help you answer those big questions in life and to celebrate the small things. We enjoy spending time with each other through intramurals, dances, retreats, parties, cookouts—you name it, it happens at Newman!

Float Trip

Join us for our annual float trip down the Illinois River. This is a great chance to get some sun and get off campus after your first couple weeks of classes. Don't miss this fall semester tradition!

Freshman Escape

Set aside this weekend in the fall semester as a time to step back and reflect on your first weeks as a college student. We’ll mix fun and reflection together in an off-campus setting and give you a chance to relax and take a break.

Register online or complete a registration card on the table in the Newman lobby. We’ll be sure keep you informed of upcoming events and schedule changes. Be sure to sign up for choir, liturgical ministry, or intramural sports—and don’t forget to have your picture taken for the Wall of Fame!

Welcome Week

Welcome Week is our way of encouraging you to come over, have some fun, meet new people, and see what we have to offer. We’d love to have you at these fun events. Bring friends; it doesn’t matter what religious affiliation or views you or they express.

This jam-packed week coincides with the first week of classes. In the past we have watched a drive-in movie (right here at Newman!), visited Braum’s for ice cream after Mass, played mini-golf, and much more.
